The 11 am issue framing workshop on clean energy had 67 people in attendance. The discussion was spirited but many sat there with deer in the headlights looks.[to include me]. We want to engage in this debate but are unsure we know enough to speak up much less act up.
The speakers implored us to act to re energize Michigan to commit to alternative fuel.
Speakers talked of the need for bold new initiatives and committed leadership.
We need:
-to raise the renewable portfolio standard RPA to at least 30%, please tell me what this means.
-promote innovations to save energy
-create incentives for bio fuels and advanced battery production
-protect citizens by prohibiting home foreclosure because energy bills could not be paid.
-prohibit power shut offs to vulnerable populations
Join the re energize Michigan Campaign to work for legislative change.
I will attend the break out this issue this after noon.

This morning in a little over an hour I will be leaving to attend the Michigan Policy Summit as a blogger for " Bogging for Michigan".

The Michigan Policy Summit 2009 at Cobo Hall will allow progressive's to share the work they are doing state wide and to build public Policy for the future.
What can a Citizen do to Advance Public Policy? This Policy Summit is a place to learn.
This is the Third Annual Michigan Policy Summit, I missed the first one.
Think to your self- How can we as Citizens involve our selves in the solution to Americas and Michgians economic crisis?
