Rocky Raczkowski Gets Protested By Single Women

National blogger Steve Benen commented on this story and correctly, in my estimation, labeled it what it is - misogyny.

Rocky was on Fox News Detroit last night and never bothered to apologize for Schlafly's remarks, instead stating they did not "reflect" his "personal beliefs." What a load of crap. His campaign invited the woman to speak knowing full well she's opposed to feminism and the EQUAL RIGHTS AMENDMENT. She's also been known to say Roe vs Wade was "the worst decision in the history of the U.S. Supreme Court" and "By getting married, the woman has consented to sex, and I don't think you can call it rape."

Campaigns are carefully orchestrated to appeal to certain voters.  In this case, Rocky was trying to reach out to the extreme right-wingers in his party.

She's a reactionary Catholic (4.00 / 2)

The issue that made her a national right-wing celebrity was the Equal Rights Amendment. She opposed it because she believes that the Bible ordains different roles for men and women--though how she reconciled that view with her going to law school and working full time as an activist seems rather contradictory.
