Amash introduced it in the House already

Yes, let's become like California. What a brilliant idea!
Agema is walking, talking proof of why we need to keep electing Democrats. I'm so tired of these Pubs that scream "less government!", and then proceed to introduce more government into the lives of poor people - and businesses as well. Bridge Cards are swiped like debit cards - going to put a mandate on business to check every person that uses a card?
As far as Cherry goes, I've got a few choice words for "labor", but I've decided to bite my tongue on that. Let's just move on and play the hand we were dealt...

As much as I would like it....

if Cherry re-entered the race, I don't blame him for choosing not to. Being governor of Michigan is probably the most thankless job in the country.
-We're going to hear a lot more about chasing "trendy ideas" as the election gets closer. I'm sure all the Republicans will talk about "not picking winners and losers." I don't know why anyone thinks that if we just cut taxes that jobs will rain from the heavens and we'll all have tons of money, nice cars, and beautiful homes. More than likely, cutting taxes will just increase the profits of corporations with little given to the average citizen.
As this second DeVos venture proves, targeting key, growing industries that fit our state's strengths and will provide new investment/jobs is smart. Sometimes things are "trendy" for a reason.
-Speaking of bad Republican ideas, Bouchard thinks that we should make our legislature even more dysfunctional:

Oakland County Sheriff Mike Bouchard says Michigan should require a two-thirds vote in the Legislature to raise taxes.

http://detnews.com/article/201...
Yes, this 2/3 majority rule for raising taxes has worked out so well in California.

That's not a smart strategy.

Even if running on that would be effective (and I don't think it would be), coming from the guy who thought we should have a universal healthcare program for our pets only sounds like pandering to his base.

is a real progressive. She's been working hard for months and has scored several early endorsements.
Please stop by her Web site to find out more about her and where she stands on the issues.

Republicans will run against health care reform in 2010 and 2012. The problem for the Dems is, if there's not a public option, it could be an effective strategy.
I don't know much about Natalie Mosher but she'll likely have my vote.

I was dissapointed that the Republicans set their protest, which was then soundly counter-protested by our side, for the time I travel to class. These photos allow me to see familiar faces and know that while I wasn't there in person, others had health care's back.

... and see that you are getting huge traffic on Kos. Very encouraging to a lot of people beyond just MI.
Might work on something about the discussions I had with many of the teabaggers. Personally, I found at least every fourth one of them was very civil and was thanked a couple times for listening to them.
For the most part, I think getting out to these rallys and taking the time to considerately interact with the opposition is a positive thing to do.
Civil discourse is the core to democracy, and any opportunity to conduct it face to face worth the effort.
Don't get me wrong, not surrendering, but there is a time to attack (done more than my fair share of that), but also a time to talk. Having them outnumbered really helps to create the right environment.
Highly encourage people to go to these as they happen, there is no sign of it slowing down... yet.
Doubt can be sown with a whisper, not only a shout.
Great post.

Headline at Gongwer:
"Revenues from Michigan's major taxes fell by 28.8 percent in February compared to collections a year ago, according to figures released Thursday by the Senate Fiscal Agency."
Scratch that idea.
