The Michigan Renewable Fuels Commission, created by Governor Granholm's bi-partisan legislation in 2006, has issued it's 2007 report. The Commission reports that $200 million should be set aside over the next three years, to invest in renewable fuel projects.
The money will be used for incentives such as no/low interest loans and grants, as well as awards for landowners who produce energy crops. The MRFC recommends using $50 million from the 21st Century Jobs Fund, and the remaining $150 million from the Department of Energy. $50 million of the $200 million in investments would be used five renewable fuels plants.
