| From the Observer & Eccentric:
McCotter said a better way to improve health care benefits for children was to increase "the supply of health care."
Sorry Congressman. You're wrong. If a child doesn't have access because their parents don't have money or insurance, all the supply in the world isn't going to help.
His flawed logic continues
He said the problem isn't with SCHIP but that Democrats were trying to "plug holes in Medicaid."
"Poor people have to have more control over access to health care, more focus on preventative care, extend tax credits and help them to set up their own medical accounts," he said.
That's right. Never fix a problem with the current system. Heaven forbid we should try and improve it. And where pray tell do you think they're going to get the money to put in medical savings accounts? If you don't have a job, or are otherwise having difficulty making ends meet, a tax credit doesn't do you a bit of good.
But, you haven't heard the best yet. It's from Knollenberg.
Rep. Joe Knollenberg, R-Birmingham, in a letter to the Observer & Eccentric, argues that increasing the tobacco tax encourages people to take up smoking to support the bill.
That is one of the worst arguments I've ever heard in my life.
Do you seriously believe that Joe? If you do, you ought to be ineligible for re-election by virute of insanity. |
